The Traveller and the King

The wise king

One cold, rainy night, a traveller was walking home with his donkey. On the way, the donkey got stuck in a muddy swamp. The man tried his best to pull the donkey out, but couldn’t. He called out for help, but no one was around.

Frustrated and helpless, the man began to complain. He blamed God for putting him in such a difficult situation and criticised the king for not caring about his people.

Coincidentally, the king and his soldiers were passing by. They overheard the man’s words, and the soldiers became angry. They suggested punishing the man for his disrespect.

But the king stopped them. Instead, he ordered his soldiers to help the man and his donkey. They pulled the donkey out of the swamp and safely escorted the man home.

The traveler, now filled with gratitude, thanked the king and prayed for him.

Moral of the story: Kindness and forgiveness build stronger communities. Always choose compassion over revenge. As the Quran says, Allah loves those who forgive.
