In some folk traditions from various communities in Pakistan, when a tree fails to bear fruit, people perform a symbolic act to encourage it.
One person approaches the tree with an axe and lightly strikes its trunk, saying, “I will cut it down.”
This person has a rope tied around their waist, while another person pulls them back, stopping them from actually cutting the tree.
It is believed that, after this ritual, the tree will bear fruit in the following season.
